All and Sundry
They all went through my
life so fast
I thought they would stay
from first to last
Given the present they
soon became past
Relegated to memories of
having a blast
Brothers, lovers, wives
and mothers
Sisters, sons, daughters
and fathers
All one act plays of
fleeting cast
Something about myself
As the ship sails
I watch the mast
Caught up in the friggin'
rigging
I suppose you could see it
coming
On life's horizon
Where the moment is vast
While standing still
In the middle of it
All aghast
As everything sinks
In a colorful mess
And flesh stinks
A rotting cess
Crawling toward extinction
This
Is the brightest outcome
Yet laugh I will
When tears erupt
Volcanoes and beans spill
All to make life worth
living
